Comparison of applicable scenarios for CAD films of different thicknesses

Comparison of applicable scenarios for CAD films of different thicknesses

The core differences among CAD printing films of varying thicknesses lie in their paper feeding stability, imaging accuracy, and compatible equipment.

The applicable scenarios for different thicknesses are distinctly different.

Characteristics and applicable scenarios of various thickness segments

≤3mil (approximately 0.076mm)

Tag: Lightweight and Portable

Compatible with entry-level general plotters, it features low paper feeding resistance and is less prone to paper jams. It is suitable for quick output of temporary sketches and small batches of A4/A3 CAD drawings, and is only intended for short-term temporary review. It is not recommended for long-term archiving.

4mil (approximately 0.1mm)

Tag: Universal mainstream type

It is the recommended standard thickness for the vast majority of conventional engineering plotters, balancing smooth paper feeding and stiffness, making it less prone to plotting misalignment. It is compatible with the full range of A0-A4 paper sizes, covering most daily CAD drawing output scenarios in the architecture and machinery industries. It is also a conventional choice for long-term archiving.

6mil (approximately 0.15mm)

Tag: High-precision Professional Model

Only compatible with high-quality industrial-grade plotters, it boasts high stiffness and is resistant to sliding and deformation, ensuring the imaging quality of ultra-large format and high-precision lines. It is suitable for the output of precision mechanical drawings and large-scale engineering general drawings, and can also be used repeatedly as a high-frequency reusable blueprint master.

Special model within the range of 2.5~8mil

Tag: Professional equipment, exclusive type

It is only compatible with specific engineering printers such as ColorWave3700, and can cover full-scene output from thin and light samples to ultra-thick special films. It is mostly used in professional graphic centers with special media requirements.
